Jaimee Alsing

Jaimee Alsing holds a BS in Animal Science from Cornell University, where she focused her coursework heavily on animal nutrition.

While still in highschool, Jaimee accidently discovered that lack of protein was the cause of common health problems seen in pet hermit crabs. From that day forward, she was hooked on animal nutrition.

She founded a small award-winning company, Colorado Care Co., which formulated and produced all-natural hermit crab and reptile food. The company continued for almost ten years. She ended up closing shop because she had been hired by a competitor for their R&D department.

Before solidifying her career in research, Jaimee worked as a veterinary technician and in a mom-and-pop pet store. Seeing how lost cat and dog owners felt when it came to choosing a food has made a big impact.

Her passion for the more “creepy crawly” pets has driven her to write reptile nutrition articles on CompleteCritter. She also writes informative articles on cat and dog nutrition and veterinary medicine. She is continually calling upon her contacts and reaching out to new ones in order to get the full, unbiased story.

Jaimee currently lives in rural Pennsylvania with her family. Non-human family members include a tuxedo cat, labrador, and four uromastyx lizards. She shares her office with her fire belly newt, who helps proofread between his snacks of waxworms.
